Switching to teaching - my motivation for the teaching profession

Since completing my bachelor's degree in business administration, I have worked for several years as a media consultant for a regional media group. In this environment, I have been able to learn a lot about strategic planning, sales, customer communication and project management.

Nevertheless, in recent months I have increasingly felt the need to do something more meaningful.

As the father of an almost two-year-old son and the husband of a vocational school teacher, I have experienced first-hand how enriching the teaching profession can be. The connection between theory and practice, the direct exchange in the group and the sense of achievement when learners make real progress. These experiences have awakened in me the desire to work in the teaching profession myself and to work with young people and those who are young at heart.

Experience from the business world that I would like to contribute

There are three main things I take away from my work as a media consultant for my educational work:

Practical expertise: I support large corporate clients on a daily basis, so I understand the requirements and processes from practice very well. I can bring real case studies into the classroom, be it on topics such as market analysis, project management or digital communication.

Methodical work: Workshops, presentations and moderation are among the tools of my trade. These are also the methods I want to use to make my lessons more interactive and actively involve the participants.

Network and contacts: Through my work, I have access to experts from a wide range of industries. Guest lectures or excursions would be easier to organize and offer students valuable insights into the real and practical world of work.

Career prospects in the school sector

I am currently planning my Master's degree in Business Education followed by a traineeship to become a vocational school teacher. A traineeship offers me several advantages:

Secure job and possible civil servant status: Especially in uncertain times, when technological change (for example towards artificial intelligence) is changing many job profiles, I appreciate the stability and security that the teaching profession can offer.

Compatibility of family and career: Vacations together with my wife and later with our son would be very important to me. School vacations are a big plus here and make family planning much easier.

Meaningful and varied work: I find working with young people, supporting their development and preparing them for working life extremely fulfilling. The mixture of professional mediation and pedagogical support corresponds to my personal understanding of professional fulfillment.

Financial and social benefits: The salary and other advantages of civil servant status are not to be neglected and provide planning and quality of life. Pension provision in times of uncertain pensions is also a clear plus.

Studying at Allensbach University offers maximum flexibility

It was clear to me from the outset that the only way I would be able to manage my job and family was with a flexible degree program. That's exactly what I found at Allensbach University. All teaching materials are available digitally. I can study when and where it suits me. Whether it's early in the morning at my desk or late at night on the couch. The individual modules are structured in such a way that I can set myself clearly defined learning and exam times. That helps me not to lose track.

At the same time, there is always an opportunity to exchange ideas if there are still questions. The online forums and live sessions are very helpful for establishing contact with lecturers and fellow students. I also find it particularly valuable that I always have a dedicated contact person. No matter whether I have technical or organizational questions: I am always helped. This makes me feel well supported at all times and I don't lose motivation.

Keeping career options open

At the same time, I would like to keep the option of working as a media consultant open at the moment. However, I will only consider continuing to work in my current profession if my current employer makes me an interesting offer. At the moment, however, my curiosity and enthusiasm for pedagogical work prevail, so I would like to concentrate fully on my Master's degree and the subsequent traineeship.
