Artur Groo has deliberately chosen to complement his professional experience with in-depth financial knowledge. After completing his bachelor's degree in business administration, he wants to pursue a career in finance. Master Finance Sharpen his profile and qualify for tasks with a stronger strategic and financial focus. In the interview, he talks about his decision, his first experiences, and his goals.

What motivated you to pursue a master's degree after completing your bachelor's degree?

I already have years of professional experience and have noticed that financial aspects play a major role in many business decisions. This is exactly where I wanted to delve deeper and complement my practical experience with in-depth knowledge.

The decision has gradually matured. In my professional life, I have repeatedly realized how important financial understanding is for strategic decisions. With the Master in Finance, I want to specifically develop my professional profile and open up new perspectives for myself in the long term.

I didn’t want to wait for the supposedly perfect moment. After all, there will always be professional and personal obligations. Therefore, I consciously chose to start developing my personal and professional skills now.

Why did you choose distance learning?

A regular full-time study would have been difficult to combine with my full-time work. With distance learning, I can decide for myself when to work on my study material – for example in the evening or on weekends.

For me, it is particularly helpful to be able to adapt the amount of study to my everyday life. During busy weeks at work or in my personal life, I can work a little less intensively and invest more time in quieter periods.

But for me that doesn’t mean that I simply do my studies part-time. The flexibility helps me to consciously schedule the necessary time. Therefore, self-organization and discipline are essential for me.

How did you hear about Allensbach University?

During my research on distance learning portals, I compared various study offers and read many reviews and testimonials. In particular, the positive feedback regarding flexibility, support, and organization attracted my interest in the Allensbach University.

Afterwards, I took a closer look at the study content and module descriptions. It was important to me that they suited my current profile and professional goals. The overall package of professional development and a flexible, part-time study program convinced me. I am very happy with my decision to this day.

What content do you find particularly interesting in the Master Finance program?

What excites me is that financial issues affect almost all areas of a company: investments, risks, company development, and strategic decisions. I want to better understand the financial background and be able to evaluate economic decisions more thoroughly.

When choosing the specialization, I decided on a combination of modules in Banking and Accounting & Taxation. The ability to connect content from different areas was a major advantage for me. This allows me to broaden my knowledge and at the same time choose targeted topics that meaningfully complement my previous professional career.

Did you have any concerns before the start of your studies due to the additional workload?

My biggest uncertainty was whether I could permanently manage my work, studies, and personal life well. However, this concern was quickly resolved. The flexible design allows me to control when I work on which content.

With some reasonable planning, I have been able to organize things well so far. Of course, there are weeks when more people get together. Overall, however, things are going better than I expected at the beginning.

Additionally, what motivates me is that I already recognize a direct connection between many of the study contents and economic issues from my professional daily life. This combination of scientific depth and practical relevance is particularly valuable to me.

What is important to you during your studies?

I wish to receive good professional support, clear structures, and reliable communication. Since distance learning requires a lot of self-discipline, it is important to me to have someone to turn to with questions or problems.

At the same time, I want to be challenged professionally. The study program should encourage me to engage with new topics and developments beyond the actual content.

What professional and personal goals do you pursue through your studies?

Professionally, I would like to qualify for more demanding positions where strategic and financial issues are intertwined. I am particularly interested in the intersection between operational business, strategic corporate management, and finance. In the long term, I would like to take on more responsibility there.

Personally, I also see studying as a challenge from which I can grow. It requires self-discipline, time management, and perseverance. I want to show that I can combine an ambitious master's degree with my professional life. I also find it very motivating to discover new topics after several years in working life.
